Below is the basic outline of the schedule with courses, dates, locations, and costs. Waynesville Wellness is an approved provider for both the NCCAOM [Provider #: 163852] as well as for the NCBTMB [Provider #: 1003]

Tui Na 101-103: Chinese Bodywork

Tui Na 101 covers basic theory as well as the core techniques of traditional Chinese Tui Na massage. You will learn the essential hand techniques as well as the opening sequence of the Tai Yang Breakdown. Tui Na 102 focuses on applying traditional Chinese Tui Na massage to the extremities. You will learn how to apply traditional Tui Na to the arms, legs, and neck. Tui Na 103 covers traditional Chinese Tui Na joint mobilizations and stretches for the major joints of the body. These courses will provide a solid foundation in Tui Na and teach you new techniques that can be used to help your patients improve range of motion, reduce pain, and increase circulation.

Tai Chi Body Mechanics for Bodywork

Tai Chi is a wonderful Chinese martial art that focuses on coordinating and connecting the entire body and moving from one’s center. These principles of movement [aka body mechanics] are a perfect fit for doing any form of bodywork or massage. This course will cover proper mechanics from head to toe and teach you how to use these principles to do more work with less effort as well as protecting yourself from injury while doing lots of bodywork or massage.

Acupressure: The First Needle

This course will cover basic acupressure theory and practice with a distinct focus on using acupressure to treat pain conditions within the body. Rather than focusing on memorizing points, this course will teach you the channel trajectories and connections so that you can use imaging and distal treatment to resolve pain in patients. A wonderful, hands on course that will leave you with new techniques for working with your patients!

Living Body: Palpatory Anatomy Part 1 & 2

Anatomy is core to any healing art. This course will provide an in-depth look at the major bones, muscles, and connective tissue of the body from a hands on perspective. You will learn to find landmarks, muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc with your fingers. This course will take anatomy out of the textbook and make it an experiential learning that you will retain better and longer. All healers should regularly review and renew their anatomy knowledge and what better way than through palpation.

In this course you will learn about the primary and secondary ingredients of massage lotions and creams as well as what each ingredient does to the lotions workability, thickness, absorption rate and glide. You will learn about proper proportions to create an individualized lotion that performs just the way you want it to. One of the benefits of making your own lotion is that you can control exactly what ingredients are used meaning no excess fillers, preservatives, or chemicals are in the lotion you have your hands in all day. Making lotion is easy, affordable and a wonderful addition to any bodyworkers skill set.

Gua Sha: Scraping for Wind

Gua Sha, also called spoon massage, is a dermal friction technique used by a variety of cultures around the world. This technique is used to move stagnant blood from the tissue so that it can be perfused with fresh blood. Shown to dramatically increase the microcirculation within the tissue itself this technique can be used for pain, trauma, chronic stiffness, bruises, skin conditions, as well as chronic inflammation. This course will cover the basic tools and techniques of this wonderful modality as well as providing you with the underlying theory and practice necessary to apply this modality. A wonderful semianr for either acupuncturists or massage therapists looking for another tool to add to their toolbox.
